Poliform Phoenix kitchen

Phoenix is Poliform's own kitchen design, and its whole argument sits in one detail: instead of handles there is a groove cut along the door, so the fronts stay unbroken and the kitchen can be laid out with unusual freedom.

The handle, removed on purpose

A handle is a small object that decides how a kitchen looks. It sets a period, it catches sleeves and tea towels, and it forces the fronts into a rhythm. Phoenix replaces it with a groove machined into the door itself, which means a run of cabinets reads as one continuous surface and the design stops depending on a piece of hardware.

That is also what makes the freedom the factory talks about real rather than rhetorical. With no handles to line up, doors of different widths sit beside each other without the eye catching, so the layout can follow the room and the plumbing instead of a grid.

A kitchen is the most involved thing in this catalog to quote. It needs the room in inches, the position of water, waste, gas and power, the ceiling height, and a decision about appliances, because American appliance sizes differ from European ones and that difference decides cabinet widths.

We quote kitchens with a drawing, not a model name, and the drawing comes before the price. Send a plan or a photograph of the room with rough measurements and we will come back with questions before we come back with a number.

No handles, so doors of different widths can stand side by side without the eye catching.
