The frame is part of the design

Almost every upholstered sofa buries its structure. Savoy leaves it in view, drawing on modernism, and then fills it with cushions soft enough that the strictness never reaches the person sitting down. The tension between those two things is the design, and it is visible from across a room.

It is modular, so the same vocabulary makes a two seat sofa against a wall or a long run with a chaise. Because the structure is visible, module joints are part of the composition rather than something to disguise, which means a long Savoy holds together better than most systems do.

A visible frame also changes the practical questions. The finish of that structure matters as much as the cover, it collects dust where upholstery would not, and it is the part that takes a knock from a vacuum cleaner. None of that is a problem, but all of it belongs in the decision.
