Kelly is the bed for people who do not want a padded box in the bedroom. A slim solid wood base carries the mattress and the cushioned headboard sits above it, and because the base can also be upholstered, the same bed exists in two quite different tempers.

Wood below, cushion above

The base is the decision. Left in wood it keeps the bed light, shows the floor underneath and makes a small bedroom breathe; upholstered in the same fabric as the headboard it turns Kelly into one solid volume. The frame is identical, the room is not, and it is worth seeing both before choosing.

Above it, the headboard is properly cushioned rather than padded thinly over a panel. That matters if you read in bed, which is the only test that counts here, and the combination of soft above and slender below is what the family is built on.

Materials run across the catalog: fabric and leather for the soft parts, walnut and other woods for the base, marble for the tops of the case pieces. Kelly is one of the families where mixing finishes is expected rather than risky.

The bedside tables and chest from 2017 answer the bed with ovals: curved bodies, carefully joined, rather than the rectangles almost every other family uses. In a bedroom with a doorway close to the bed, a curved corner at hip height is a practical as well as a visual choice.

The same bed reads two ways: bare wooden base, or the base upholstered to match.
