Poliform builds furniture in Inverigo, in the Brianza district north of Milan, and most of what leaves the factory goes indoors: sofas, beds, tables, wardrobes. Since 2023 the house has added a short list of modern outdoor furniture. The designers are the ones who draw its living rooms, so a terrace furnished from this list looks like the room behind the glass door.
Six families, three jobs
A terrace asks for three things: somewhere to sit low, somewhere to eat, and somewhere to lie in the sun. Poliform covers all three, with fewer pieces than an outdoor specialist and with more thought per piece.
For lounging there are two sofa families, Ketch and Mad Out. For eating there is the outdoor Henry table in aluminium and teak, and a Curve table with rope details. For the sun there are three loungers: the Ketch sunbed, the Henry sun bed and the Magnolia sunbed. Crew and Strata add low tables and ceramic vases.
Ketch: comfort in the frame
Jean-Marie Massaud drew Poliform Ketch in 2023, and the name comes from a two-masted boat. On the sofa and the armchair a flexible back hangs between two solid iroko uprights, the way a sail hangs between masts. Lean back and the back gives. That means the cushions can stay thinner than on most outdoor sofas, and thin cushions dry faster.
Iroko is a dense West African hardwood with natural oils. The factory treats it with hydro-oils. Left alone it drifts from honey toward silver grey; oiled twice a season it keeps the darker tone. The sunbed has a reclining back with a compartment behind it for towels. The coffee tables come with slatted wood tops or with tops in fused glass, textured with sand by hand. Most outdoor sofas get their comfort from a thick cushion. Ketch puts it in the back, which flexes like a sail between two uprights.
Mad Out: a curve made of rope
Marcel Wanders took the round lines of the indoor Mad armchairs outside in 2023. On Poliform Mad Out craftsmen weave the backs of the sofa and the armchair by hand from rope. Air and light pass through the weave, which matters on a hot afternoon and after a storm.
The armchair is compact. Many outdoor lounge chairs arrive wide enough for a pool deck and then fill a city balcony. Two Mad Out armchairs fit where one sofa would crowd the floor. The coffee tables carry tops in lava stone, fired at high heat in two shades, with an optional glass powder finish. Lava stone is heavy, and on a windy roof you want that. See the Mad Out collection.

Tables and loungers from Emmanuel Gallina
Gallina rebuilt his Henry dining table for outdoor use in 2025, in aluminium and teak, with the same outline as the indoor table. You can run the wooden one in the dining room and the outdoor one on the terrace, and the two will read as a pair. The Henry sun bed uses the same aluminium and teak construction for a pool deck.
The Magnolia sunbed is iroko, with a reclining back whose mechanism hides in the frame and wheels at one end, so one person can move it into the shade. Strata started outdoors in 2023 as coffee tables cast in Cementoskin, a hard cast material, grouped at several heights like stones.

Choosing between them
Start from the floor you have. A narrow balcony takes a pair of Mad Out armchairs and one lava stone table. A deck with a view takes a Ketch sofa facing out, with the coffee tables inside the group. A pool side takes loungers first: Ketch if the lounge group is Ketch, Henry if the dining table is Henry, so the wood and metal match across the deck.
Near the sea, rinse iroko frames and rope with fresh water a few times a season. In a hot, dry climate the cushions wear out before the frames, and you replace the cushion covers and keep the furniture.
