One piece, four jobs
Versatility in furniture is usually a claim. Here it is a consequence of size and strength: Nara is small enough to lift with one hand, strong enough to sit on, and low enough to serve as a table beside a sofa or a bed. Most people who order one end up ordering a second.
The workmanship is cabinet making rather than joinery: the piece is cut from solid wood and finished so that the grain runs uninterrupted around it. That is where the price sits, and it is visible from a metre away, which is not true of most furniture details.
